RESOURCE DESCRIPTIONS:
• CHOOSING TO CHEAT …Who Wins When Family and Work Collide -by Andy Stanley, published by Thomas Nelson Publishers, www.thomasnelson.com. As Dr John Maxwell says about this book (which we agree): “This is a life-changing book and extremely relevant to our modern way of life. Author Andy Stanley confronts us with truth and transparency. Just as he had made a commitment in his own life to balance his family time with his work, he encourages us to make similar commitments. One of the main reasons it is life changing is because a godly man who makes choices in his own life to never sacrifice his family for success has written it. If he wins the world but loses his family, what has he gained? Every couple, every parent, and every leader needs to read this book and consider the question: Who wins when my family and work collide?” This book presents a strategic plan for resolving the tension between work and home. You’ll find ways to deal with the busyness that wreaks havoc with the relationships you consider most important.”
• COURTSHIP AFTER THE MARRIAGE -by Zig Ziglar, published by Thomas Nelson Publishers. This is a warm, loving book that talks about how a couple can still be romantic once the initial ecstasy fades. In this bestseller, Zig Ziglar shows couples how a warm, loving, respectful commitment can stay —and even grow stronger —throughout the years together. If there is anything we can do at [the ministry of] Home Word to come alongside your marriage and your parenting, do not hesitate to contact us at www.HomeWord.com. Our daily radio program which broadcasts all across America and on the Internet, is also a great resource for you. I hope we not only develop a relationship through this book but also continue that relationship through the many avenues of service we provide at Home Word.” He goes on to say, “I have created a section at the end of every chapter that will help you ask and answer questions that will cause you to go deeper in your relationship with your spouse and within your own life as well. I really encourage you to take time to read the chapters together and then answer the questions. There is a set of questions for you alone to answer (Questions for Me), and one for your and your spouse to answer together (Questions for Us). A final set of questions are to help you put into practice some of the principles taught within that chapter.”

Marita and Chuck write this book realizing that there is no perfect marriage, no average American family. They understand that each union brings to the table different needs, expectations, backgrounds, and personalities. Jesus didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. We are to love like that—EXTRAVAGANTLY!”
• MARRIAGE MASTERPIECE -By Al Janssen, A Focus on the Family Book, published by Tyndale House Publishers, www.tyndale.com. This is an outstanding book which focuses on the Biblical foundations to marriage and helps you to see clearer what God’s design and model is for marriage. In today’s world marriage is often undervalued and isn’t appreciated enough. But this book “takes a fresh look at the exquisite design God had for your marriage and brings to light the reasons your union was intended to last a lifetime. It helps to promote the “institution of marriage as a permanent, lifelong relationship between a man and a woman, regardless of trials, sickness, financial reverses, or emotional stresses that may ensue.” It helps to answer the fundamental questions: “Why marriage? Why bother with the obligations, sacrifices, and even the joys of marriage? Why risk lifelong unhappiness if marriage is nothing more than a legal arrangement between two adults? why remain in a tough marriage if there is little hope of lasting improvement?” Buy this book now.
