Missionaries and Spouses Links and Resource Descriptions

The following are Web Site Links and Resource Descriptions for Missionaries and their spouses. We pray you will find them helpful for your marital relationship —although we ask that if you know of ANY resources we could add to this list PLEASE let us know about them —We care VERY MUCH about the marriages of missionaries. We’d greatly appreciate your involvement in helping us locate resources to help missionaries beyond what we are currently showing below.

www.crossculturalworkers.com This website contains 45 “brochures” on topics relevant to cross-cultural workers and four E-books. Cross-cultural workers anywhere in the world can visit this website to read, download, print, copy and distribute the information free of charge to anyone who can use it.

Galatians 6:6 Retreats: These are two-day retreats designed to provide enrichment to ministry couples. They are a time to “freely receive.” Quite often, couples in the ministry become so involved in “giving to others” that their personal lives are neglected. They miss out on the first part of the biblical principle found in Matthew 10:8b, “Freely you have received, freely give.” In the spirit of ministry leaders freely receiving, the apostle Paul challenged the church with this message in Galatians 6:6. “Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor.” Galatians 6:6 retreats are held in various locations in the United States, Europe, and elsewhere and are an attempt to communicate that the “worker is worthy.” “Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.” (1 Timothy 5:17 NKJV)

Intermin.org: This is the International and Internet ministries of Mike and Diane Constantine. They have resources for you designed to help you and those you care about build stronger marriages, homes, and lives.

www.missionarycare.com: Through New Hope International Ministries, Ron Koteskey and his wife, Bonnie, offer on-field help to independent missionaries, to missionaries whose agencies have no one designated for missionary care, and to missionaries who would prefer talking with someone outside their agencies.

Narramore Christian Foundation: This foundation has helped missionaries for years. Every year at least 5,000 missionaries leave the field unnecessarily because of excessive stress involving personal, family, social, and ministry-related problems. Those remaining on the field face life stressors at least 2-3 times those experienced by individuals at home in the United States. The Narramore Christian Foundation is committed to serving these dedicated men and women, and their families. In addition to their headquarters staff in the United States, NCF teams with ten outstanding Christian Associate Staff Psychologists and Psychiatrists who minister in various regions of the world including Kenya, West Africa, France, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Africa.

Nehemiah Ministries: They provide caregiving resources and services for pastors, missionaries and others in vocational ministry at their lovely guest house located on 160 wooded acres in Michigan’s Maple River valley. They also provide counseling and church relations resources at no cost for those in need.

www.peterswife.org: Peter’s Wife is a great place for women working outside their home culture to connect, encourage and help one another. Browse their site and choose the ways that best fit your situation and needs. The newsletter is the core of their service. For ten years Peter’s Wife was mailed until printing and postage made it too costly. The Internet breathed new life into their vision and in May, 2000, Peter’s Wife began again as an email newsletter. You can sign up for them on their web site.

www.2equal1.com This web site uses the most effective venues for ministry – the living rooms of the world. With an incredible worldwide network of leaders, you can tap into our powerful in-home courses anywhere from Argentina to Zimbabwe. It ministers to families around the world in 90 countries and 30 languages. The reason we wanted you to know of this web site is because they have a section titled “Advice Articles” which you can use to minister to others but also, and especially for your own marriage.
