P.U.S.H. = Pray Until Something Happens!

A man was sleeping at night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with bright light and the Savior appeared. The Lord told the man He had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might. This, the man did, day after day.

For many years he toiled from sun up to sun down with his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might. Each night the man returned to his cabin sore, and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain.

Seeing that the man was showing signs of discouragement, the Adversary decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the man’s weary mind: “You’ve been pushing against that rock for a long time, and it hasn’t budged. Why kill yourself over this? You’re never going to move it” —thus, giving the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure. These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man.

“Why kill myself over this?” he thought. “I’ll just put in my time, giving just the minimum effort and that’ll be good enough.” And that’s just what he planned to do— until one day he decided to make it a matter of prayer and take his troubled thoughts to the Lord. “Lord” he said, “I’ve labored long and hard in Your service, putting all my strength to do that which You’ve asked. Yet, after all this time, I haven’t even budged that rock by half a millimeter. What’s wrong? Why am I failing?”

The Lord responded compassionately,

“My friend, when I asked you to serve Me— you accepted. I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all your strength— which you’ve done. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push. And now you come to Me— with your strength spent, thinking that you’ve failed. But is that really so?”

“Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscular. Your back sinew is mighty. Your hands are callused from the constant pressure;and your legs have become massive and hard. Through opposition you’ve grown much and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have. Yet you haven’t moved the rock. But your calling was to be obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in My wisdom. This you’ve done. I, my friend, will now move the rock.”

At times, when we hear from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He wants. What God ACTUALLY wants is just simple OBEDIENCE and FAITH IN HIM. By all means, exercise the faith that moves mountains, but know that it’s still God who moves the mountains.

P.U.S.H. = Pray Until Something Happens! When everything seems to go wrong, just P.U.S.H. … When the job gets you down, P.U.S.H. … When people don’t react the way you think they should, P.U.S.H. … When your money looks funny and the bills are due, P.U.S.H. … When people just don’t understand you, just P.U.S.H.

    (USA)  I really need a lot of prayer. I just seem to stay in a storm all the time. I really don’t understand. I just know that without him I would never be able to wake up day after day in the hands of the only hope that I have — that one waking morning The sun will shine in the midst of the storm that rages in my life. Heaven will truly be worth battling the storm. Please pray for me. GOD bless.

    (USA) Hi Leonie, I’ve never stopped praying for you, even when we didn’t hear from you for a long while. I’ve been concerned, and have cared, and have been praying.

    I pray that God will embrace you with His love and open the doors for you to have a good paying job that will support you and your sons financially. I pray that God will extend mercy and open the way for you to move to a place you can call home –where you can raise your sons without them having to constantly witness their father’s unfaithful behavior. It’s so confusing for their young minds to see that continually before them. I pray God clears their minds of that which will harm them and will speak love and Truth to their hearts that they may embrace Christ as their Savior and Lord of their lives.

    I pray that God will lead you to be in community with other Believers who love the Lord and are supportive in helping you to grow even stronger in Christ. I pray that God will bind up your wounded heart with His love, grace, and mercy and help you to be victorious in not holding onto the bitterness that can so easily take root after what you have lived through because of your husband’s infidelity.

    I pray for your sons and daughter that God will minister to their hearts and souls to reject the ways of the evil one, to see, comprehend, and follow the Truth of Jesus Christ — that they will open every part of their hearts, minds, souls, and lives to Him, so He will lead them in the way everlasting. My heart cries with you, grieves with you, prays for you and loves you as my sister in Christ.

    I’m so glad that you have been turning to the Lord rather than away from Him through the trauma that you have been living through. May you grab onto God’s faithfulness and care and never let go. May you be blessed beyond your imagination as you lean upon Him to take care of you. Please know you are loved.

    “Since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. We pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way; bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light” (Colossians 1:9-12).

    “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit!” (Romans 15:13)

    I pray these truths for you also Robin, that God will touch your heart, life, and circumstances in such a way that you will see the healing and leading hand of God everywhere you look. May the storm clouds move aside and may you clearly see the Son wherever you are and wherever you go. God is able!

    “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!” (Romans 15:5-6)

    “May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ to whom be the glory for ever and ever.” (Hebrews 13:20-21)

    “May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The One who calls you is faithful and He will do it. (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)

    “For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit and in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:14-19).

    “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ — to the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1:9-11)

    We are asking God to “fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.” (Colossians 1:9b-10) AMEN!!!

    (USA)  Please P.U.S.H. with me. My retirement fund will be gone in 2 years. I need to supplement my income in order to keep the home that my husband who is now with the Lord two years, eight months, built together as our retirement home. I am looking for work I can do from home. I pray to make the right decision about some things I have tried, but have failed. I don’t seem to be able to hear what God’s answer is. I pray over decisions and think I have made the decision he has planned for me. Not only has it turned out to be wrong, but it has had negative consequences. How do I know what God’s answer is for me?

    Also, pray for my daughter and 4 yr old granddaughter who have moved in with me. They have had a difficult time. Please P.U.S.H. for them to have a peaceful relationship. Thank you.
