A man was sleeping at night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with bright light and the Savior appeared. The Lord told the man He had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might. This, the man did, day after day.
For many years he toiled from sun up to sun down with his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might. Each night the man returned to his cabin sore, and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain.
Seeing that the man was showing signs of discouragement, the Adversary decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the man’s weary mind: “You’ve been pushing against that rock for a long time, and it hasn’t budged. Why kill yourself over this? You’re never going to move it” —thus, giving the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure. These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man.
“Why kill myself over this?” he thought. “I’ll just put in my time, giving just the minimum effort and that’ll be good enough.” And that’s just what he planned to do— until one day he decided to make it a matter of prayer and take his troubled thoughts to the Lord. “Lord” he said, “I’ve labored long and hard in Your service, putting all my strength to do that which You’ve asked. Yet, after all this time, I haven’t even budged that rock by half a millimeter. What’s wrong? Why am I failing?”
The Lord responded compassionately,
“My friend, when I asked you to serve Me— you accepted. I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all your strength— which you’ve done. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push. And now you come to Me— with your strength spent, thinking that you’ve failed. But is that really so?”
“Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscular. Your back sinew is mighty. Your hands are callused from the constant pressure;and your legs have become massive and hard. Through opposition you’ve grown much and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have. Yet you haven’t moved the rock. But your calling was to be obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in My wisdom. This you’ve done. I, my friend, will now move the rock.”
At times, when we hear from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He wants. What God ACTUALLY wants is just simple OBEDIENCE and FAITH IN HIM. By all means, exercise the faith that moves mountains, but know that it’s still God who moves the mountains.

When everything seems to go wrong, just P.U.S.H. … When the job gets you down, P.U.S.H. … When people don’t react the way you think they should, P.U.S.H. … When your money looks funny and the bills are due, P.U.S.H. … When people just don’t understand you, just P.U.S.H.

(USA) Please pray for my son and his wife. They are lost. They have broken one of God’s law if not several, but one especially to honor your father and mother. My son has broken this commandment of God. He won’t let us see our grandson because of his wife. He is 8 years old. They both denied him to visit us or to see us and to talk to us because of her selfish ways.
(ZIMBABWE) What a wonderful, wonderful site. I am subscribed to Marriage Missions and have benefitted greatly. I would like you Cindy to pray for me because I have had many bad experiences in marriage especially with my husband’s other “women”.
He had stopped going to church but is now going but there is something I cannot put a finger on that is not right in my marriage. It is as if something is missing. I am always praying for my husband to make the correct choices for our lives. At one time during the height of his affairs I stopped praying for him. It has taken me a long time to begin praying for him after all the hurt, pain and humiliation he has put me through. Thank you and May the GOOD LORD Bless you.
(USA) ”You thoughts are not my thoughts neither your ways are my ways.” My question is, suppose God wills that you are not going to get married but to use you in a certain situation in His kingdom building here on earth? But you keep praying to God to provide you a suitable husband? How would you relate this to the P.U.S.H. prayer attitude?

(KENYA) I have read the comments on PUSH and have really been blessed. I am in a job that is so frustrating and have been really praying for almost 2 years for a change. I believe that God has put me here for a reason but at times I feel so discouraged.
In the past I have left 2 jobs at my own will (without even seeking God) but God has been faithful and whenever I pray for another one he opens the door. From today I have realised that I will keep on pushing and being faithful and obedient. Be Blessed.
(SOUTH AFRICA) I am a 36 single (divorced) mother of 2 (Girl 11 and Boy 6). I have just met this guy of 40, with 2 kids. I love him so much. although we are still dating, the Lord has confirmed that he is my husband. I need prayers from (PUSH) saints because there is a lot of challenges that the devil is imposing on this relationship. I have been single for far too long. I need us to be a happy family for our children.
(SOUTH AFRICA) My eyes just filled with tears as I read this – even although I have read this same story in the past. But just reading this now again, I once again realise what a great God we serve. I am feeling so humbled now – cause God is just always wanting the best for us – and even if it feels like we going through the lowest of valley, He still has a plan and purpose. Al we need to do is to persevere, trust, keep faith and pray. PUSH!
