(CANADA) To be truthful – me and my husband get along very well and we never argue or disagree, even when we first started dating. Yet, as we started as a young married couple everyone started placing their advice.

Take everything with a grain of salt. Some of it is pure nonsense because some people will try to get between you and your mate. Their advice is a form of meddling and its a spirit that should not meddle with you period.

I personally seek God and make him the center of my life cord in marriage. The word of God says that a three ring cord is not easily broken. God is the first cord and the small ones and you and your husband. There is no space for your inlaws, nosey friends or aged church women who feel the need to tell you how to be on your guard.

DO NOT VOLUNTEER YOUR PERONAL BUSINESS TO EVERYONE! THIS IS FROM EXPERIENCE. AND DO TELL PEOPLE WHO KEEP PRESSING AND ASKING YOU, LEAVE MANY THINGS UNSAID. THAT IS A PART OF RESPECTING YOURSELF, GOD AND YOUR MATE. SEEK GOD AND NOT MAN IN TRIALS.

(USA) Very good list of points but with a very important point missing. Placing a high importance on married sex life. For “most” husbands, you can get ALL of that other stuff right, but if you ignore or reject him sexually on a consistent basis, all that other stuff will fall on deaf ears… and rightly so.

Just like a man who makes sure to take care of all of his family’s needs… finances, health care, shelter, food, clothing etc., but never talks to his wife or cares to get to know her. It’s the same thing. You can’t ignore the sexual relationship and expect to convey love. And you can’t ignore the friendship part of the relationship and expect to convey love. You really do need both for either to work.

(BOTSWANA) I thank God for this space. I had been searching for biblical points about marriage, what is required of a married couple to make one know that God is really in the marriage. I have been married for 18 years, I thank God for His love and sustenance, both I and my husband are born again Christians. We have never attended a seminar, or counseling about marriage. We have no complains we are very happy as a family with our children I must say, by God’s grace.

What has been bothering me however, are some of our family friends who say openly that they don’t understand us because we never complain. None of them has ever had that. We have taken our problems to our Pastor like they all do. I guess it’s because we both put our trust in God to see us through any obstacle in our marriage. Please send me more biblical verses to share with these friends. I feel led to share with them the word of God. Thank you for sharing with us.
