(USA) Myth #11 is 1/2 truth and 1/2 false. The truth is women are 2x more likely to file for divorce. However, anyone who studies scripture as well as people, quickly recognize that men are no more and no less sinful than women. So the notion that men are more often badly behaved is a seriously flawed statement.

Folks choose divorce if they think they will get a good deal out of it, regardless of gender. Sin is not a gender based phenomenon, it's a heart condition. Sinners are equally represented by both genders.

The easy one to refute is affairs. Unless one believes men are having affairs with other men, it's quite clear to see that for every man (or woman) seeking an affair, there is a woman (or man) who is willing to go along. Thus both are sinning, both are involved in the affair, and both keep the genders equal in terms of participation in marriage damaging affairs.

So the citation for #11 misses the biblical reality that sin is an equal opportunity condition, afflicting men and women equally.
